I enjoy observing. I like to pause and take in the world in which I live. I enjoy looking at things and places. I'm interested in the people who inhabit them. Yet one must admit that it often seems a bit odd to just gaze around aimlessly. And if, instead of being important and busy, you simply stare at strangers, you might just be lazy, crazy, or seeking contact. And sometimes it's just that simple: When you draw someone, you have a good reason to observe them. In this sense, my reason for engaging with people is the image, and the image is the excuse for engaging with people.
